Intermediate Training

Has your child mastered in learn to swim? We offer an intermediate swim lesson that offers three additional levels of breaststroke, butterfly, dives, and turns. Students will be able to swim longer distances and learn skills that will keep them fit for a lifetime. This swim school uses fantastic skills progression to teach kids to learn the most advanced strokes and builds their confidence to be safe in any aquatic environment.

Intermediate level swimmers are comfortable in the water, have learned to float and can swim for short distances ranging from the width of a pool to a pool length. Ideas for teaching students at this level focus on stroke technique for freestyle, introducing backstroke and breaststroke, and developing the swimmers endurance level.

At the intermediate level, swimmers should be working on good body position (long, straight core) and extending arms from the shoulder on freestyle and on backstroke. It’s also time to focus on kicking from muscles in the hips and glutes (not from the quad/knee) and using a long leg with only a slight knee bend. Relaxed feet can work like flippers in the water.
